- CrossFit Level 1 Trainer
I am a PhD student in mechanical engineering at ISU that loves to get out of my lab and work out! I grew up in a small town (Carlisle) near Des Moines, IA and enjoyed soccer, cross-country, and football growing up. I started lifting weights in high school and continued to lift weights, run, and do agility work in college. I started to get bored with lifting every day and endlessly repeating Insanity workouts so, when I was introduced to CrossFit (I did Murph for my first workout in Texas in August) at an Air Force training school, I was hooked. I found Iridium CrossFit here in Ames and never looked back.
I love that we have a strength-based program that also helps me with agility and conditioning. I really enjoy the body awareness and strength I’ve gained from working on gymnastic skills and getting into weightlifting. I love that our workouts are constantly different and we can adjust workouts so that even my grandma can do it. After building up my abilities as an athlete, I decided to combine my love of teaching and CrossFit by becoming a coach. Becoming a coach has made me an even better athlete and I really enjoy helping people get better and motivating people to push their limits.
